About the Constultant
Jim Lichti, MSW, RSW, RMFT has been employed full time in the mental health field for over 32 years. He has been practicing EMDR since 1993 and has conducted thousands of EMDR treatment sessions. Jim was a Facilitator with the EMDR Institute (1996-2003) and Fraser EMDR Training (2003-2007) and is an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant. He was a founding Board member of the EMDR Association of Canada (1995-2004) and continues to serve as the Chair of their Professional Affairs Committee. Jim also serves on the Membership Committee of the EMDR International Association. He has been doing individual and small group EMDR Consultation since 1996.Jim belongs to the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers. He is also a Clinical Member (1984) and an Approved Supervisor-in-training with the American Associations for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Jim is an Assistant Practicum Professor - Part-time, Faculty of Social Work, Wilfrid Laurier University. He operates EMDR Resources.com the webstore for EMDR therapists and sponsors EMDR workshops.
Jim has extensive experience working on multidisciplinary teams in both Childrens Mental Health Centers and Community Health Centers. He specializes in working with trauma, particularly with abuse survivors. His areas of special interest in EMDR consultation are case consultation, incorporating EMDR into an existing clinical caseload. His research interests are raising the quality of EMDR consultation across the training system. He conducted research on the current state of EMDR consultation for which he was awarded the 2005 EMDR Association of Canada Research Award and presented on this topic at the 2005, 2007 and 2009 EMDRIA International conferences.
